Austin O’Hara named 2017 DCA Safety Person of the Year

Congratulations to Austin O’Hara for being chosen as the 2017 Safety Person of the Year by the Distribution Contractors Association (DCA). O’Hara, the Regional Safety, Quality, and Compliance Supervisor for the South Region, was recognized on March 27 at the 23rd annual DCA Safety Congress in New Orleans. This annual event is a venue for construction industry safety personnel to network, share creative training concepts, discuss trends and to hear from leading safety training consultants, other safety directors and risk management executives.

“This award is awesome and very humbling,” O’Hara said. “It’s an honor to receive this recognition and I want to thank everyone who put together my nomination.”

Vice President of South Region Operations, Chad Davis, said “Austin has been a leader and key contributor in integrating employees into our culture of safety and sustaining the safety initiatives of the South Region.”

O’Hara joined Miller Pipeline in 2013 after graduating from Indiana University in Indianapolis with a degree in public safety management. He was hired on as the safety program administrator and was quickly promoted to safety specialist. He has been in his current role in the South Region for three years.

“When I was hired as the safety admin, I did not imagine I would be the head of safety for the South Region, but I’m looking forward to the next steps of my career with Miller and I’m focused on making the South Region the safest at Miller Pipeline.”

This is a huge accomplishment for O’Hara and testament to his hard work. Congratulations!
