EX Method®
Formed-in-Place EX Liner

For municipalities and industries that can't afford the time and expense to dig up damaged pipe, there is a fast, high quality solution. Miller offers the EX Method to reconstruct sewer pipes, water lines, house service connections and industrial piping with no excavation.

The EX Liner is a high strength PVC resin liner that is continuously inserted through existing manholes after being heated and softened. After insertion, it is expanded to fit tightly within the host pipe, resulting in a continuous, jointless pipe-within-a-pipe. The new pipe will reduce infiltration, eliminate root intrusion and resist both internal and external pressures. Cracking of the old host pipe from ground movement or earthquakes is readily sustained by the EX Liner without affecting its integrity.

Reconstruction with the EX Method can be accomplished on pipes from 4 to 15 inches in diameter and in continuous lengths of over 500 feet. EX Liner can be installed in lines made of steel, concrete, vitrified clay, PVC, cast iron, asbestos and other materials. Since it is expanded about 10% into the host pipe, the EX Liner can reconstruct pipelines having bends or some degree of change in diameter without creating any wrinkles or ridges. All of the equipment and materials needed for installing the EX Liner are mobile. As a result, it is possible to move quickly to a work site and perform the installation immediately and in limited space.

The quality of the PVC resin used in the EX Liner gives it outstanding durability, strength, chemical resistance and long-term stability. Because the inside surface of the EX Liner is extremely smooth, with excellent flow characteristics and minimal reduction of inside diameter, the rehabilitated pipe maintains, and in many cases, exceeds the original capacity.
